I warmly welcome you to the website of the village of Rábakecöl!

Where the Little Rába bids farewell to the old Rába, at the gateway to Győr‑Moson‑Sopron County, the region of Rábaköz is born at Rábakecöl.

The village’s four waterways, with a combined length of nearly fifteen kilometres, and its more than three hundred hectares of forest provide a rich habitat for diverse flora and fauna – a delight for nature lovers and hunters alike.

Alongside the Rába River, two fishing lakes await anglers. Those who do not choose the oar may mount a saddle – on two wheels or four hooves – or even ride in a carriage.

Visitors can explore a local history collection and enjoy various cultural programmes. Gourmets may embark on an exciting truffle hunt with professional search dogs at the internationally unique truffle estate, followed by a multi‑course truffle tasting of exceptional quality.

With Kesző, we once helped settle the land. Legend has it that King Matthias’ beloved lived here. We milled our grain while floating. The “Landscape of Rábakecöl” hangs in the National Gallery, and we even have a “dowry‑carrier” from the film Zimmer Feri.

Each spring, we walk through seas of snowdrops on the outskirts of Kecöl. We do not take down the maypole – we dance it out. We have a Fairy Garden and a storybook village. We fire up the oven and bake langalló. In spring, autumn and winter, the village dresses in festive colours.

Here, the coachman brings St. Nicholas and his troupe of Krampuses directly to the children’s homes. During Advent, we go on window‑opening walks and together ring the “Christmas chime”.

Nearly fifteen civil organisations and informal groups work tirelessly for our community. Since 2018, Rábakecöl has proudly held the title of “Humanitarian Settlement”.

Our Roman Catholic church and classical stone cross are protected monuments, and we boast many other heritage structures: two chapels, three statues, eight stone crosses and two manor houses.

In recent years, many have joined our growing community not only as visitors but also as new residents.
