Call for Contributions

The Rust for Robotics workshop at ICRA 2025 invites high-quality contributions that explore the use of Rust in robotics applications. The workshop aims to bring together researchers, engineers, and practitioners to discuss the advantages of Rust for real-time performance, safety, and reliability in robotics. We welcome submissions in two tracks:

• Poster Track – Research and technical presentations on Rust in robotics.

• Demo Track – Live or video demonstrations of Rust-based robotics projects.

Topics of Interest

We encourage submissions that address, but are not limited to, the following topics:

• 1. Rust for real-time and embedded robotics systems

  2. Rust-based robotics middleware and frameworks

  3. Control, planning, and perception softwares using Rust

  4. Robotics industry applications and case studies using Rust

  5. Tooling, debugging, and ecosystem development for Rust in robotics

  6. Security and formal verification for Rust-based robotics software

  7. Benchmark of Rust-based robotics software with other programming languages (C++, Python, etc)

  8. Education tools and platforms for Rust in robotics. 

Submission Tracks & Guidelines

We are soliciting contributions in two tracks:

Poster Track

Participants are invited to submit papers presenting Rust-related research or projects relevant to robotics. Submissions should be in the form of an extended abstract (maximum 4 pages in ICRA format, including references). Authors may also submit an optional 2-3 minute video presentation if their work involves visual elements (e.g., robot operations, visualizations).

Accepted papers will be published on the workshop website, and authors will be required to present a poster at the workshop (in-person or remotely).

Submission format:

• Extended abstract: maximum 4 pages (ICRA format, including references)

• Optional: 2-3 minute video presentation

• Template: ICRA submission template

Demo Track

This track welcomes video demonstrations of Rust-based robotics projects. Demos should be submitted as a video (≤10 minutes, ≤50MB), accompanied by a project website or GitHub repository link. Authors of accepted demos will be invited to present a live demonstration during the event. Accepted demo videos will also be featured on the workshop website.

Submission format:

• Video demo: ≤10 minutes, ≤50MB

• Accompanying project website or GitHub repository link

Submission Process

All submissions must be made via OpenReview. Please follow the guidelines below for each track:

• Poster Track

  1. Required: Upload a PDF containing your extended abstract. 

  2. Optional: Upload a ZIP file (up to 100 MB) with any supplementary material.

• Demo Track

  1. Required: Upload a ZIP file (up to 100 MB) containing your demo video. Include a link to the project in the abstract section of your OpenReview submission. 

  2. Optional: Upload a PDF briefly describing your project.

• Notification of Acceptance: May 5, 2025
