QMYC Election Update

First off, we’d like to thank you all for your patience and understanding as we’ve been figuring out how to launch and host the Youth Council election - there have been a few bumps in the road but we’re ready to move forward!
The new dates for the election are:
April 12 : Extended deadline for Western Rep nominations
April 4-18 : Campaign period!
April 9-11 : All Candidates’ Live Discussion (date TBD, depending on candidates’ availability)
April 11: Register to Vote
April 18 : Election day!
At the close of the nomination period, candidates came forward for all positions except Western Representative. Nominations for Western Rep will be extended to April 3 at 5pm, and we are working to confirm the nominations of the remaining candidates over the coming days.

Once candidates are confirmed, the campaign period will start on April 4, and will end on voting day, April 18, 2021.
An All-Candidates Live Discussion & Meet and Greet will be hosted during the campaign period depending on the availability of candidates. The forum is tentatively scheduled to happen on April 10th, 6pm NST.
Do you have any burning/important questions that you'd like ask your Qalipu Mi'kmaq Youth Council Candidates?
Think of this form as a virtual ballot box for your questions. Submissions of your questions are due April 7th - a couple of days before the All Candidates Live Discussion, which is on Saturday, April 10th at 6:00 PM NST (this one will be recorded if you can't make it*)!
To ensure you receive your ballot, please register to vote by no later than April 11, 2021.
Once candidates are confirmed, the campaign period will start on April 4, and will end on voting day, April 18, 2021.
Information on how to vote will be sent to all registered voters in advance of voting day.
Self-identified Qalipu Mi'kmaq youth between the ages of 14-30 (inclusive) are considered members of the Qalipu Mi'kmaq Youth Network, and are eligible to vote in Qalipu Mi'kmaq Youth Council Elections. The Qalipu Mi'kmaq Youth Network is status-blind: all self-identified Qalipu Mi'kmaq youth are welcome, regardless of formal recognition of Status under the Indian Act. If you are a member of the Qalipu Mi'kmaq Youth Network, please register to vote on or before April 11, 2021.
