Mr. Quinteros leads a PLC @ West Side H.S
I started teaching in High School when I volunteered at St. Benedict's Daycare in Newark. It was while reading to little children that I realized that teaching is my calling. Today, I am a highly qualified veteran teacher with 15 years of professional experience.
In my 15 years, I worked primarily for 3 schools. In all 3 schools, I became a teacher leader, led PLC's, earned Highly Effective ratings and earned scholarships, grants and awards for my pedagogical skills. In my professional career I have been a...
History teacher, Special Education Teacher, Bilingual Teacher, Coach, Teacher Lead, College Seminar Advisor, Financial Literacy Teacher, PBIS lead, School Newspaper Editor, Advisor, New Teacher Mentor, Union Rep, Academic Interventionalist, TA and Dean of Discipline and Culture.
Today I serve as a Teacher Leader & Academic Interventionalist (Rising leader), Alternative School Coordinator (Supervisor), Dean of Climate and Culture (9th Grade Academy).
I came to this country with my family at the young age of 8 months as an immigrant. Grew-up in and got educated in the public school system.
I was the student council president at Ann Street School and led a tour for Washington D.C delegates who awarded my city with its first Blue Ribbon excellency award. My mentor was Principal Joseph Maccia.
I graduated from Ann Street, East Side High School, Seton Hall University and have worked my entire career in public schools.
I am a proud father of two boys and a baby girl. I have been married for eleven years to the love of my life. I met my wife while serving at a non-profit called Street Light. It was an outreach program for underserved youth who were at risk of incarceration and or addiction. For 10 years, I worked with students with Behavior Disabilities ranging from emotional disturbed to oppositional defiance syndrome. I managed to be a change agent in the lives of students who others had discarded and gave up on. I realized that many of them were capable of great things academically, but needed to trust, heal and be loved first.
