In 2011, there was a magnitude 9.0 earthquake off the eastern coast of Japan - creating not only a huge tsunami that washed over much of the coast line but damaged the Tohoku Nuclear Reactor. Over 15,000 people died in this disaster. I made this Bento Box quilt for the Brampton Quilters' Guild to send to victims of the Tohoku Earthquake in Japan to provide some comfort to people in need there. This cause was very close to my heart because I lived in Japan for 3 years, only just having moved back to Canada in 2010.
