Artisan Pro & Quick Mask Pro updates available on the Adobe Marketplace
September 20, 2023: Artisan Pro 2024 & Quick Mask Pro 2024 released and compatible with PS CC 2024 (v25.x)
Adobe just approved and published the updated versions of Artisan Pro and Quick Mask Pro, on the Adobe Marketplace to make it compatible with Adobe PS CC v25.0 (PS CC 2024). We also fixed the restore issues and ensured the panels just performed a bit better. Just navigate on the Creative Cloud Desktop App to Stock & Marketplace > Plugins > Manage Plugins and install the latest versions. They're respectively called Artisan Pro 2024 and Quick Mask Pro 2024 since they are now fully compatible with Adobe PS CC 2024. This implies that also the latest version of Adobe PS CC 2024 is recommended for installation.
PS CC 2024 (v25.x.x) not compatible with panels
**PS CC 2024 (V25.x.x) update not yet compatible with Quick Mask Pro plugin**
Today's release of yet another major PS update v25.x.x (PS 2024) is causing problems in the Artisan Pro and Quick Mask Pro plugins. We're looking into that and already have solved one of the issues but there are several new issues introduced as a result of the new Adobe PS CC version. If you are used to working with the panels we recommend not updating to the PS CC 25.x. version just yet. We will keep you updated and we will of course release a new update once we have fixed the issues.

I'm announcing a free Quick Mask Pro for UXP webinar on December 11, 2022, via Zoom. Artisan Pro will also be part of the set demonstrations as masking is only useful if the masks are used for post-processing. Artisan users are therefore also welcome to this webinar. I will demonstrate how making good masking decisions can save you time in post-processing among various other topics.
QUICK MASK PRO V.1.0.2 update released
Today, September 30th, 2022 we released a small update for Quick Mask Pro UXP called Quick Mask Pro UXP v.1.0.2. The update is available on the Adobe store and can be downloaded (free of charge for existing users of Quick Mask Pro for UXP) by opening up the Creative Cloud Desktop app > Stock & Marketplace > Plugin > Manage Plugins. You will see that Quick Mask Pro now shows the blue button with 'Update' instead of the grayed-out 'installed' message. Click on Update. When you open up PS you will see the latest version 1.0.2.
What has been updated:
Incorrect channel names of the channels created when using the option Manual Object Detect have now been corrected. This also solved an internal inconsistency that earlier on resulted in less accurate masks in specific situations. Now the names have been corrected, the internal inconsistency is solved too and masks are more accurate in a variety of situations.
We added a new feature in the Quick Access menu button called Paths. Due to the space available in the top menu section, we removed the existing Deselect button, since that already has a built-in shortcut in Adobe Photoshop. You can deselect a selection by hitting CMD+D (Mac) or Control + D (Windows). We found it more useful to add a new 'save as path' feature. The new Path feature will allow you to save a selection as a vector mask which can be very convenient in specific cases. E.g. You create a mask with QMP of a building. The mask of the building needs some correction. You can do that with the panel and depending on the type of correction with Advanced Refine Mask for example, but now you can also save that QMP mask as a path, then go to the paths tab, stand on it, and then use the direct selection features in Photoshop to correct the mask. The given example was deliberately one with a mask for a manmade structure as it makes more sense to use and adjust masks as vector masks when they are masks of geometric shapes. It is less recommended to save a mask as a path when the mask is that of hair, feathers, and other intricate details.
QUICK MASK PRO 2022 UXP RELEASED
Release of Quick Mask Pro 2022 (UXP)
Today, Tuesday, July 19, 2022, we released the UXP version of Quick Mask Pro 2022 (UXP) that will work on any Mac computer, M1/ M2 and Intel, and of course on any Windows computer without the need of starting Photoshop in Rosetta emulation mode. Furthermore, we have integrated Adobe's AI technology in our Quick Mask Pro plugin in the background to drastically improve the accuracy and subtlety of masks.
The new Quick Mask Pro 2022 panel can only be purchased from the Adobe Marketplace store, using your regular Adobe user account (email address).
This version of the panel is the first major upgrade of the panel since its initial release in 2017 and is in our view a considerable improvement using the latest insights and technology. If you're an existing user of the panel you will receive a discount offer for the panel. [Read more]

Quick Mask Pro 2022 UXP - Comprehensive Tutorial (42 mins.)
Part 1 of the new Quick Mask Pro 2022 for UXP tutorial series on Masking Intricate and Translucent Objects.
It is nearly impossible to create a perfect mask in general. Even more so when creating masks for translucent objects like hair, leaves, and fur. And when you're pushing the contrast to extremes, it is actually impossible. You will always need to correct the mask or the results after the fact. For the How and Why of that: I dedicated a few words on that in the Masking Tips section. In this video, I'm demonstrating not only how to use the new Quick Mask pro plugin but also giving a few suggestions on what to do with fringing as a result of masking translucent objects for extreme image adjustments.
