I cannot take names, but I was in a queer group and one of the members was a sexual assaulter and they assaulted few of my friends. After that, occupying the same space, it was horrifying. People think that violence does not exist inside queer spaces, like it couldn’t be farther from the truth.

"One of my friends went to study in the UK, and she's a lesbian, and she did find a home there, amongst other people, but her Indianness always stood out. So how do you overcome that? It was not in a celebratory way, she stood out because she was brown-skinned, she was Indian. Yes, she was queer. So she was part of the queer group there. She had people to hang out with "
" I told you, my friend, who went to the UK, right? She was Indian, they were very welcoming. Yes. But her Indian education and her indigenous stood out and she was more Indian than she was queer.
" I was talking to you about this gay friend who was being abused, right, he comes from a Muslim family. And I know, another person who was gay and from a Hindu family, the implications that religion has on their sexuality are huge "
But I know of people who have experienced not physical abuse, but emotional. I have a friend, not based in Bengaluru, but he found this person on Grindr, and that person is in an open relationship. It's been going on for two or three years now. And, both of them are not polyamorous. So polyamory is not equivalent to cheating, right? So all the parties involved must be aware of everything that's happening in order and whatever agreement they decide to. But then in this particular, my friend has been misled by him and emotionally manipulated in a way that he's been stuck in this for three years now to three years now. And that is he's not able to go away or move on. Because every time he tries, he sucks him back in. So that is an intense form of emotional abuse. And people who are undergoing this feel like I'm gay, he is gay, he'll understand he won't do that, to me, is what my friend thinks.
