Hello! I am Duha[she/they] and I am one of the coordinators/administrators for QC Bangalore.Queer campus Bangalore was established in 2013 by 2 young queers from Bangalore taking inspiration from other QC chapters across the world: Ex QC in Munich, QC Hyderabad and QC Delhi.
QCB seeks to provide a safe and comfortable space to adolescent and young adults queer individuals who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex, non-binary, A sexual/Agender and questioning/queer folx. For these individuals to come together, share, collaborate and just be themselves without the fear of being bullied, ostracized and misunderstood.
We host 2 kinds of spaces: A digital one where we contribute to our coordination and planning for the upcoming meets, and it's also a space for anyone to share/open up or reach out in case of distress.
Majorly our recipients are students either in their bachelor's or master/graduated or have not graduated. We mostly look at amplifying marginalized voices up and first but we don't indulge in dismissing voices from anyone else. In a nutshell, we don't have a hierarchy in our spaces we try not to endorse one either. QCB exists in a physical space, our meetings exist as QCB when they happen either online or offline. The gathering of people for QC is what constitutes the QC meetup. A lot of our members are private and closeted about their identities and we don't dwell on being privy about it either.
No
Our collective view is all about solidarity and intersectionality of joining movements together and this is what we have done before and will continue to do so. We need to understand movements as a whole are not binary and sometimes we have to walk alone to bring change.
QCB has helped individuals by re-directing them to resources and help when they required it.
