Bursary Criteria
Eligibility:
Must be a child or stepchild of an active member of the Queens Local, NSTU.
Parents of the applicant must have amassed 3 full years of teaching service in SSRCE to be eligible.
Applicants must provide a receipt of proof of registration in a post-secondary program.
May apply on a one-time basis (year of graduation).
o Bursary amount of $500.00.
o Multiple teacher families employed within the Queens Local may apply for multiple NSTU bursaries.
OR EXCEPTIONS ARE MADE FOR:
Student who plans to enroll in a program involving children and youth.
Deadline: Application forms must be submitted by May 31st 2022.
Cheque: A cheque will be issued to the student upon receipt of proof of registration at the institution.

Queens Local NSTU
Local Grants
We ask that schools fill out the Donation Request Form and submit them to queens@nstu.ca by our first round deadline of December 1st, 2021 or our second round deadline of March 1st, 2022
Criteria for the Local Donations are as follows:
Grants are not to exceed $300.00 (*increase for the 2021-22 year)
The funds will not be used to fund any extra-curricular travel
The funds will not subsidize the cost of substitute teachers
As a general rule, the funds will not be used to buy or replace capital equipment
The funds will not be used to replace the Board’s or the school’s responsibility to fund the program
As every year is unique, past awards will not be precedent setting. However, preference will be given to first time applicants
Past receipt of a grant shall not guarantee a similar decision in the future
Innovative activities will be given priority
Queens Local’s role as a sponsor, shall be fully and publicly recognized
We encourage your school to take advantage of the monies that are available and schools are permitted to submit more than one application as long as the initiatives are separate.
