Ken Tallack was introduced to Judo in the early 1960s, through the YMCA in London, Ontario. In 1967, he commenced life-long practice of Northern Shao-Lin Kung-fu with the Canadian Karate Kung Fu Association (CKKA).
In 1985, during a trip to Okinawa, Japan, he was accepted as the first Canadian student, and Canadian Representative of Goju-Ryu Dai Sensei (Grand Master) Yagi Meitoku, whose style Ken Tallack spread from coast-to-coast-to-coast across Canada.
Residing in Japan from 1990-1993, he was accepted as a member of Dai Nippon Butokukai (DNBK) in Kyoto, Japan. In March of 1995 he was assigned the position of Canadian Representative for DNBK and has led hundreds of Canadian students to Training Festivals internationally including 6 trips to Kyoto, Japan.
At this time, Ken Tallack holds DNBK titles of Hanshi of Karate-do, Kyoshi of Kobudo, Master Instructor and 9th Degree Black Sash of Kung-Fu with the CKKA. Hanshi Tallack was inducted into the Canadian Black Belt Hall of Fame in 2017 and the Kingston District Sports Hall of Fame in 2019. Hanshi Tallack will assist with classes at the Queen's Karate Club as his schedule allows.

The Queen's Karate Club was founded in 1995 by our Master Instructor Ken Tallack
Ken Tallack currently has his 8th degree black belt in karate and his 9th degree black sash in kung fu, as well as the title of Hanshi
Hanshi Tallack was inducted into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2019!
The QKC is still associated with our parent dojo, Tallack Martial Arts, which was also founded by Hanshi Tallack in 1978
Our club is certified as a dojo with international governing martial arts organization based in Kyoto, Japan, called the Dai Nippon Butoku Kai (DNBK), which is affiliated with the Japanese Imperial Royal Family
Our instructors are also certified with the DNBK, which means we can grade students and have their ranks be recognized outside of our dojo
Currently, our Head Instructor is Renshi Sachil Singh, who has a 4th degree black belt in Goju Ryu and a 3rd degree black belt in Shito Ryu
