Surjeet earned his Ph.D. at TIFR Mumbai. Following that, he held postdoctoral positions at the Max-Planck Institute (CPfS) in Dresden, the University of Paris in Orsay, and the Leibniz Institute (IFW) in Dresden. His research primarily focuses on exploring the physics of frustrated and low-dimensional quantum magnets. His other research interests include designing new thermoelectric materials. Outside of his academic pursuits, he enjoys hiking, nature walks, and reading fiction.
Sagar joined IISER as a Ph.D. student in the year 2019. He completed his M.Sc. from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar. His area of research is quantum magnetism. Currently he is involved in the crystal growth and properties of geometrically frustrated quantum magnets. Apart from academics, he loves reading, travelling and photography.

Dinesh joined IISER in the year 2020 as a Ph.D. student. His broad research interest includes Instrumentation and Thermoelectricity. He has been an integral part of the High-Temperature Hall set-up project, and now he is working on Superionic Thermoelectric materials. He is fond of food and loves traveling.

Pankaj joined IISER Pune, Physics PhD program in 2022 after completing his MSc from IIT Roorkee in the same year. His research interests include exploring the thermoelectric properties of metavalent compounds. Apart from his research, Pankaj loves music, playing badminton, trekking, and reading books.

Prabhu joined IISER Pune as a PhD student in January 2024 under the supervision of Prof. Surjeet Singh. He pursued his MSc from Ravenshaw University, Cuttack. Single crystal growth and characterisation of magnetic materials are his research interests. Besides academics, he loves to explore different food cultures.

Meghna joined the Physics PhD program at IISER Pune in August 2024 under the supervision of Prof. Surjeet Singh. Her research focuses on thermoelectrics, particularly Half-Heusler compounds. A native of Palakkad, Kerala, she holds a Master's degree from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. Beyond academics, she has a keen interest in dancing and photography.

Nashra Pistawala
Nashra joined the Quantum Materials Lab in the year 2019. She defended her PhD thesis in April 2025. She is on her way to become a Research Associate in the physics department at the University of Warwick.
Ankit Kumar
Ankit was a Prime Minister Research Fellow from 2019 to 2024. He defended his PhD thesis in April 2025. He is currently a Research Associate at the University of Warwick.
Navita Jakhar
Navita defended her PhD in the year 2023. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Science and Technology, Austria in the group of Prof. Maria Ibáñez
Dibyata Raut
Dibyata completed her PhD in the year 2023. She joined the group of Prof. Stephen D. Wilson at the University of California, Santa Barbara as a postdoctoral fellow.
Kumar Saurabh
Saurabh completed his PhD in the year 2022. After a year-long postdoc stint at JNCASR, Saurabh joined the CUMI Minerals, R&D group as a research scientist.
Prachi Telang
Prachi joined IISER Pune as iPhD student. She worked on the pyrochlore iridates. She defended her thesis in the year 2020, and is currently a Humboldt fellow at the University of Augsburg in the group of Prof. Dr. Philipp Gegantwart.
Rabindranath Bag
Rabindranath joined IISER Pune as PhD student. He worked on the crystal growth of hybrid chain/ladder compounds and studying their magnetic properties and sliding motion. He defended his thesis in the year 2018, and is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Duke University, USA in the group of Prof. Sara Haravifard.
Koushik Karmakar
Koushik studied the effect of non-magnetic and magnetic disorder in Quantum spin 1/2 chains. He defended his PhD thesis in the year 2016. Current Position: Postdoctoral fellow in the group (Quantum magnetism and quantum phase transitions) of Prof. Radu Coldea at Oxford University
Rohit Kumar

Rohit worked on crystal growth and magnetotransport in 122 family of iron based superconductors. He defended his thesis in the year 2018. Current Position: Postdoctoral fellow at Zhejiang University.
