Each computer is unique -- problems that sound the same often are not.

So, the issue might be more specific to some particular platforms.

However: The host machine has a Qualcomm E2200 network adapter, and it is running the so-called "Killer" network manager software on startup. After the 8.1 upgrade, when the machine did its final restart, The Qualcomm network manager opened with a message that the LSP was not mapped properly. I clicked "YES" to remap it. Probably a stupid move on my part.

If I enter sudo ifconfig enp61s0 up it supposedly starts (the DISABLED flag vanishes) but the ethernet is still not working. The network manager GUI does not show any ethernet related options. After rebooting it is set to DISABLED again.

i downloaded the drivers directly from msi website, and when trying to install, the installer says, "you must have proper Qualcomm Atheros hardware installed in order to install Qualcomm Atheros killer network manager suite.

I would like to add that the killer network hardware has trouble working (or not working) under the new fedora kernels. My E2400 Gigabit Ethernet killer only works when I leave the fedora 32/33 kernel in the old versions. So I have a special template for sys-net-ethernet with the old fedora kernel

and finally kernel 5.10x is working and I can use my wired connection again. Now I just need to fix the wired display of my templates again and everything is running fine. It is not a fix for the killer ,but if u like to use cable network and have compatibilties problems like me, I think the 15 e are not too expensive to get it working again.
