In this exercise, you’ll respond to real-life situations and practice trust-building and active listening.

Instructions:

1. Watch and Read the Scenarios:

   • Watch the three mentoring scenarios provided and read about helpful communication tips.

     • Watch videos: [Suggested Media: Short clips (1–2 minutes each) showing realistic mentor-mentee interactions.]

     • Read the guides: [Suggested Media: A downloadable PDF with active listening and empathy tips.]

   • Scenarios include:

     • A mentee who feels like they don’t belong.

     • A mentee struggling with balancing school and life.

     • A mentee facing challenges with others' expectations.

2. Write Your Response:

   • For each scenario, write how you would help as a mentor. Use these tips:

     • Show empathy by validating their feelings.

     • Offer practical steps to solve the issue.

     • Focus on building trust and support.

3. Reflect and Learn:

   • After receiving feedback, write 1–2 sentences about what you learned.
