Deadline for applications : May 30, 2026 (earlier applications are encouraged)
The key element of the enrollment procedure is the online online exam in Physics that includes solving of some problems (see examples, experimental and theoretical) and subsequent interview . You are included into short list immediately when pass the exam/interview and get the consent of supervisor to work with you.
Three positions are currently available. Successful candidates from short list will be announced not later than on June 30, 2026.
PhD Starts on: October 1, 2026
Scholarship is supported by AdFutura Foundation for participants under 28 years of age at the time of enrollment in doctoral studies
Tuition fee is supported by Slovenian Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation
Program duration: 48 months
Non-EU citizens: to get residence permit, the procedure should be started immediately after enrollment
Accepted candidates register for PhD program in the University of Ljubljana and to AdFutura Foundation
Students supervised by scientists outside Slovenia will spend at least half a year or longer period in the partner labs (support provided by partner labs is agreed individuallly).

Before May 30, 2026: submit complete application. Required documents: records of University grades (transcript), CV, publications (if any).
Before June 15, 2026: pass online exam in Physics. Contact QTFuture@nanocenter.si to agree any day starting from April 1, 2026
Before June 20, 2026: (successful candidates who passed exam/interview) Contact one of possible Research supervisors to obtain his/her agreement to supervise your work.
Before September 1, 2026, 23:59 CEST: Register for PhD program in University of Ljubljana Call for Enrolment in the doctoral degree programmes of the University of Ljubljana, Doctoral Programme in Mathematics and Physics. EC non-citizens can apply for long-term student residence permit after Enrolment (Sept 2026). Successful candidates can contact qtfuture@nanocenter.si starting from June 30 to discuss possibilities of earlier arrival.
