Tan Bappe is a multi-disciplinary artist with expressions in print-performance poetry and visual art from Singapore, a special education teacher in Arizona, and she co-hosts "Between The Lines” with Lu-Shien Tan. Her poems are published in Singapore and the United States of America. Online, she has performed at the Poetry Festival of Singapore and Bangalore Literary Festival. She recently took stages in person at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe, 5C Cafe and Cultural Center in New York City, and Hive Carpenter and The BluJaz in Singapore. She’s toured with two repertory companies, received the VSA Teaching Artist Fellowship in Washington D.C. 2009 and presented at the Smithsonian Museum of American Art.

Lu-Shien Tan is a self-professed foodie. Lu-Shien has cooked most of his life and became a boutique catering chef, and celebrity chef judge. He was once a yacht delivery and charter captain, corporate trainer, and award winner in professional sales. Today, Lu-Shien is a Director of Admissions for Lincoln Academy traveling the world recruiting international students. He writes poetry and performs art to spotlight the marginalized. Lu-Shien is proud to have taken the stage with Kemlyn Tan Bappe at the Nuyorican Cafe, New York; and headlined at the BluJaz, Singapore. He has also performed with Kemlyn at various online events globally

Welcome to Between The Lines (BTL), a global call and response online show where a curated group of artists will respond to work offered by our guest artists. Look out for the prompt and guest artist on our Facebook page: Q's BLUE WORLD. If you would like to be considered as one of our curated response artists, please complete this form and agree to our community guidelines.
Community Guidelines:
-Participants must sign-up each week: only hosts, guest artists, response artists and audience members who are registered will be admitted. https://forms.gle/NdW88mFsXimojyBAA
-Arrive on time.
Because this is a response event, participants who arrive on time will be invited to offer responses to our featured "shiok" guest. Those coming into our space after our guest begins may join us as a member of our interactive audience.
-Up to 4-Minute Responses (Poems including introduction and comments): After 4 minutes, you will be muted and the next artist will be invited to share their response.
-18 years or older: This is a space for adults 18 years or older where some of the themes explored may include mature content and themes including the use of expletives, social justice issues and sensual descriptive language. No hate speech will be condoned in performance nor within the chat will be tolerated. If that is happening, please alert your host who will address the concern immediately.
-This is a live show and the recording will be aired on YouTube and shared on social media.
-Asynchronous Participation: Especially for those who could not make it or arrived late, enjoy the recording and share yours responses and supplementary materials under the week’s BTL video in Club Mermaid.
