About Us

Quincy Edward's first endeavor, Q's Coffee Shop, was on N. Broadway and operated during the 1930's. Q's Coffee Shop closed when Mr. Edwards decided he wanted to enter the sporting goods business and opened Q's Sport Shop at 2809 1st Avenue N in the 1940's. Mr. Edwards expanded and moved a half a block west to the corner of 1st Ave N and N 29th St. in the 1950's. 

Originally, Q's was short for Quincy's. But we have developed a business practice where Q's now stands for "Quality Customer Service". 

Aaron Lipsker purchased Q's Sport Shop in the 1950's and Borden G. Armstrong purchased the business from Mr. Lipsker in 1962. Both successive owners kept the Q's name. B.G. Armstrong sold the business to Ron and Lynne Ries prior to his untimely death in 1964. In 1969, the business was purchased and moved across the street to the west side of N. 29th and became Bair's Army Navy. After the sale in 1969, the Q's Sport Shop employee owners, Cliff Bayliss and Bob Fry, which happened to be the leading experts in the sporting goods business during that day, went to work for the enterprises that today are named Scheel's and previously Big Bear Sporting Goods.

Q's Art Shop is proudly carrying on the Q's trademark tradition of quality customer service and we give special thanks to the Western Heritage Center and the Billings Gazette for providing historical information and photographs.

Our main goal is to bring art in its finest form to the Billings community by encouraging artists young and mature in developing skills that fully utilize their potential. We are dedicated to helping our customers present their art successfully through custom framing. Q's Art believes that framing completes the art and that the goal of framing should be to enhance the art and not detract from or overpower.  We have also come to understand that fine art although not a necessity to human survival is indeed necessary to uplift the human spirit. Fine art nourishes the soul in the same way that healthy food nourishes the body. We strive to make fine art in a variety of forms accessible to people of all walks in life.
