Effective date: July 26, 2026 · Applies to the Android app “QRX: QR Code Scanner & Maker”
QRX is built privacy-first: your scans are processed on your device, your history stays on your device, and we collect the minimum needed to run the app. This policy explains what little data is involved and your choices.
Camera frames: code recognition runs entirely on your device. Camera images are never uploaded, stored, or shared.
Scan & creation history: stored only in the app’s local database on your device. We have no access to it. Deleting the app deletes it.
Contacts, messages, precise location, files: not collected. Actions such as “save contact” or “open map” simply hand data to the app you choose.
Account data: QRX requires no sign-up and has no user accounts.
Link safety check (optional, on by default). When you scan a code containing a URL, the URL may be sent over an encrypted connection to a link-reputation service to check for phishing or malware. The URL is used solely for this check, is not linked to your identity, and is not stored by us. You can turn the check off in Settings → Safety & Privacy; an offline blocklist then still provides basic protection.
Analytics & crash reports: we use Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to understand aggregate usage (e.g. which features are used) and to fix crashes. This involves device model, OS version, app version and coarse, non-identifying event data.
Advertising (Free version only): the free version shows minimal banner ads via Google AdMob, which may process your advertising ID to serve and measure ads. QRX never shows full-screen ads between your actions. All ads are removed in QRX Pro. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings.
Purchases: subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed by Google Play Billing. We receive purchase tokens to unlock features, never your payment details.
Camera — required to scan codes. Used only while the scanner is open.
Photos / media (optional) — only when you choose “Scan from image”, via the system photo picker.
Internet — for link safety checks, ads (Free), analytics and purchases. Core scanning, creating and history work fully offline.
These partners process limited data on our behalf, under their own policies:
Google Play Services & Play Billing — policy
Google AdMob (Free version) — policy
Google Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics — policy
Google ML Kit on-device barcode scanning (no images leave your device) — terms
Local data (history, settings, cards): retained until you delete it in-app or uninstall the app.
Analytics and crash data: retained per Firebase default retention, then deleted or aggregated.
You may request deletion of any data associated with your device identifiers by emailing us (below).
QRX is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
All network traffic uses encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Local data is protected by your device’s app sandbox. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we minimize risk by collecting as little as possible.
Depending on your region (including the EU/EEA under GDPR and California under CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or object to processing of your data, and to opt out of personalized advertising (Android Settings → Privacy → Ads). To exercise any right, email us; we respond within 30 days. We do not sell personal information.
We may update this policy as the app evolves (for example when optional AI or Dynamic QR features launch). Material changes will be announced in-app, and the effective date above will be updated.
