QPS has 2 Invite only Reserve Divisions; Special Emergency Response Team (S.E.R.T.) and Public Safety Response Team (P.S.R.T.). These divisions are open to all ranks and divisions, it just depends on if you receive an invite or recommendation from a higher up. In order to be considered for these divisions you need to have filled out the Divisions Preference Form.
Below is information regarding each Reserve Division.
(S.E.R.T.)
The Special Emergency Response Team handle all high priority calls and situations; bank robberies, hostage situations, armed gunman, officer down, shots fired calls and many more. They are the Queensland Police Services Armed Tactical response team, capable of taking down high risk targets and POI's whilst still ensuring the safety of of the general public. S.E.R.T. utilizes all available QPS resources to effectively reduce or stop major crimes and help bring peace to Queensland. SERT has access to a variety of vehicles, ranging from a fully armored bearcat to unmarked Landcruiser's to LMG Mounted MRAP's. In order to join S.E.R.T., you must first be part of P.S.R.T., of which you will be invited to S.E.R.T. after proving your abilities to the S.E.R.T. Team Leaders.
(P.S.R.T.)
Similar to S.E.R.T ( Special Emergency Response Team ) P.S.R.T will focus on the less extreme situations where careful handling and precaution is needed. Usually arriving first on a high priority scene, the main goal of P.S.R.T is to ensure both Queensland and her interests are safe as well as the community and general public. The hope of P.S.R.T will be to train you in all hostile and non-hostile situations and prepare you for your future within the Queensland Police service and any other departments or pathways you choose. P.S.R.T. utilize an unmarked Landcruiser.
