The Queensland Police Service offer 3 Certifications to all GD officers; Water Police, Off-road and Polair. These Certifications are open to anyone at any rank. You will most likely be offered the Certification training at the end of Police Academies, if not, contact the Head of GD and enquire about getting your Certification training complete.
Water Police
Water police allow members of General Duties and other branches to utilize QPS police water resources such as small boats, large boats, jet-skis and brand new Landcruiser's. This certification can be easily obtained and will come in handy with multiple situations. Water police can also be activated when necessary and is vital to protecting both Queensland's shores and the community.
The offroad certification will allow you to use your vehicle on rough terrain such as hills, sand, and other difficult landscapes. The use of the offroad certification allows for full maneuverability with your vehicle and to help reach those hard to get spaces. As someone who is offroad certified, you will have access to a Canam and a few other offroad vehicles, and will be permitted to patrol in areas that normal GD units would be unable to go.
PolAir is essential to any working police force, the ability to reach the sky and survey the surrounding land for either a Person of Interest or locating an object. PolAir is one of the main reason suspects are caught during pursuits and is an amazing experience if you wish to fly among the birds.
