Alumni Batch Presidents of QNHS along wtih current school personnel take part in planting 50 dwarf coconut trees around the campus, October 2.
Part of Quezon National High School’s 122nd founding anniversary, Quezon High Alumni Association Incorporated (QHAAI), spearheaded by Engineer Rosendo Razon, administered a ceremonial coconut tree planting inside the campus, October 2, 2024.
After the opening ceremony held at the QNHS gymnasium, 50 coconut trees were planted simultaneously by alumni batch presidents and school heads in selected areas around the campus such as Gabaldon area, E-type garden, N-type building, BEFF area, and Suarez building.
According to QNHS’ Faculty Club Association President Pablito M. Inojosa, the administration decided to plant coconut trees during QNHS’ anniversary as it is one of the symbols of the school throughout its history.
"Isinagawa ang coconut tree planting sapagkat in history, ang Quezon National High School ay ang niyog ang kaniyang sinisimbolo. Kung mapapansin niyo sa ating logo siya ay nasa gitna, the coconut, so that's why meron tayong school organ na The Coconut [Ang Niyog],” said Inojosa.
He also added that the activity paved the way to replace trees that are dangerous due to being damaged and old like the one in front of the Gabaldon building.
Additionally, Batch 1990 president Chris Navaro stated that the said activity is held to help reduce the rising temperature at school amidst the growing population by adding more trees.
The said tree planting is done in partnership with the Philippines Coconut Authority.
