Student trainee or internship positions (for both undergrad or graduate students)
We welcome students to join us either as student trainees during semesters or as interns. Undergrad students can apply for the Summer Student Research Program (SSP) sponsored by Institute of Physics, AS. Graduate students can apply for the Taiwan International Internship Program (TIIP) sponsored by AS or International Internship Pilot Program (IIPP) by NSTC.
The SSP, TIIP and IIPP aim to provide students with a unique opportunity to work alongside physicists, contribute to ongoing projects, and immerse themselves in the world of advanced research. For domestic students, pending satisfactory performance during the trainee position or the internship, stipends will be available during semesters.
Further details can be found in the following webpages, with the standard stipend during the internship period listed below:
SSP: NT$ 20,000 per month (July - August): https://www.phys.sinica.edu.tw/~summer/.
TIIP: US$1000 per month (three possible periods): https://tiip.dia.sinica.edu.tw/.
IIPP: NT$1,000 per day (28-90 days): https://iipp.stpi.niar.org.tw/.
Given the limited availability of funded positions, applicants for student trainee and internship positions must meet the following criteria:
(a) Candidates must meet all the criteria listed in the guideline on this page: https://sites.google.com/view/qmtheory/job-openings.
(b) For trainee candidates, they MUST BE open to continuing their project(s) until graduation. Similarly, intern candidates MUST BE open to continuing their project(s) after the conclusion of the internship. Trainees or interns who received the stipends but failed to meet their commitment will be noted below accordingly.
Applications for SSP are typically accepted from March to April each year. Before initiating the online SSP application process, applicants must first email to chenhsuan_[at]_as.edu.tw between March 15th and the application deadline (April 25th for the 2025 application). For applications to TIIP or IIPP, please refer to https://tiip.dia.sinica.edu.tw/ or https://iipp.stpi.niar.org.tw/.
The subject of the email should be one of the following:

"IoP Internship through IIPP [Your Full Name]"
and the following documents should be included:
