COVID-19 is a global pandemic which can cause a potentially significant health risk to all businesses.
WERKOMED (PTY) LTD / KLINICA SA endeavours to follow COVID-19 Regulations in terms of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
An employer is mandated to take all reasonable action to ensure a safe and healthy working environment.
These steps are to include elimination or mitigation of any hazard or potential hazard, providing instructions, information, training and supervision as well as the enforcement of such measures that are required in the interest of health and safety.
The policy is a set of guidelines to manage communication, control access to the Company, deal with prevention and to deal with COVID-19 infections.
This Policy is used to assess:
1. the potential risk of exposure to SARS-CoV-2 virus,
2. current control measures and
3. provide recommendations to management
The objectives of this is to:
a. identify and assess potential risk of exposure to SARS-CoV-2 virus at the workplace
b. identify control measures (or the absence of control measures) and assess their effectiveness to prevent exposure
c. inform the management of the risk of potential exposure to SARS-CoV-2 virus and additional controls that might be required.
Steps to be taken / followed:
1. education and awareness to staff members of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and its impact
2. wearing of PPE (masks / goggles / face shields or visors / gloves where required) in line with required Government Policy.
3. sanitisation of hands either by hand sanitiser or washing with soap and water
4. keeping work areas decontaminated with appropriate disinfectants regularly
5. keeping equipment decontaminated regularly
6. Staff that are ill are required to stay home until they are well again, or are advised to work from home where possible.
“This Policy must be read-with and comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act 04 of 2013, (“POPI”), the Company POPI Policy, PAIA Manual. And processing of personal information envisaged under this Policy must be done in accordance with the aforementioned.”
It shall be the responsibility of the Top Management Team to establish and maintain policies and procedures and to bring these procedures into effect.
It shall be the responsibility of the General Manager to ensure implementation of these policies and procedures.
