Rice Yield/Quality in response to high daytime/nighttime temperature

A meta-analysis-based relationship between rice yield and daytime/nighttime temperatures was developed [Su et al., 2023], suggesting that seed set rate was the most sensitive trait to high daytime/nighttime temperatures. Grain yield decreased with increase in nighttime and daytime temperatures. Heat stress also significantly impacts rice quality traits, which in turn can affect yield loss. Crop production facing significant challenges ahead

Climate change will increasingly be detrimental to crop productivity as levels of warming progress, suggesting mitigation and adaption measurements for future crop planting [ongoing].
