Travel information

Useful resources to plan your travel/stay in Toronto

  • There are also some nice boutique hotels closeby. Everything is somewhat expensive though.

  • Bike Share Toronto is a great option to commute as well as to see around

  • Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) provides the local transit services. There is a street car that has a stop only in couple mins walking distance to the Fields. The institute website also has some info here.

  • There are two airports, that are both in very easy access to downtown

    • YTZ: Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport

      • Most of the flights are from North America, via Porter Airlines (which usually does not allow carry-on for free!)

      • There is a shuttle between the airport and downtown center

    • YYZ: Toronto Pearson Airport

      • Flights from all around the world. It has been a bit hectic in the past few months but things seem to be getting better.

      • UP Express is the most convenient way to travel between the airport and downtown

      • Important to be familiar with the US customs at Pearson: Travellers to the US are able to clear US customs and immigration before boarding their flight. (It makes the travel more convenient but you won’t be able to find a large selection of restaurants etc. after you cross the customs.)

  • There are many coffee shops in a walking distance to the Fields Institute, e.g.:

    • Second Cup (214 College St) and the Cube (40 St George St) which can be accessed very easily through the Bahen Centre entrance right across the back entrance of the Fields Institute

    • Starbucks (205 College St)

    • Tim Hortons (455 Spadina Ave)

    • Second Cup (179 College St)

    • Found Coffee (324 College St)
