The most famous Qawwali performer is Nusarat Fateh Ali Khan. He's the main reason Qawwali was able to have a global audience. Though it was Pakistani singers Haji Ghulam Farid Sabri and his brother Maqbool Sabri who brought it to the United states in the mid 1970. It was Fateh Ali Khan garnered the attention of film and world industries who were attracted by his energetic performances and virtuous voice. He contributed to the soundtracks of popular films, went on tours and overall widened the listenership of Qawwali. Traditional Qawwali instruments consists of the harmonium, table ( Tablah) , dholak, and sarangi. Sometimes instruments such as the Congos, Khartal, and morsing are added by regional qawwali ensembles.
