Introduction - Hadeeth 4
In every name of Allaah, the Possessor of Limitless Mercy, the Bestower of Mercy. All praise is due to Allaah for His apparent and concealed blessings, both the earlier and the latter. And I implore Allaah to grant commendation and protection His Prophet and Messenger, Muhammad; to the Prophet's family and Companions, all of whom strove steadfastly in the path of supporting Allaah's religion; and to their followers who inherited their knowledge. The people who have knowledge of Islaam are the inheritors of the Prophets; thus, the aforementioned are remarkably honourable individual, both the inheritors and the inherited. As for what follows: This is a concise book containing the main hadeeth texts that are foundational evidences for Islaam's rulings pertaining to people's actions. I have compiled it meticulously so that the one who memorizes it would excel among his peers, the novice in seeking knowledge of Islaam would find it helpful, and the expert who desires to read its contents would find it indispensable. I have clarified at the end of every hadeeth which leading scholars of hadeeth collected it and I did that out of sincerely wanting what is best for the Ummah. In that regard, when I say "the Seven", it refers to Ahmad, al-Bukhaaree, Muslim, Aboo Daawood, an-Nasaa'ee, at-Tirmithee, and ibn Maajah. "The Six" refer to all of those excluding Ahmad. "The Five" refers to all those excluding al-Bukhaaree and Muslim, and I might also refer to the same group as "the Four and Ahmad." "The Four" refers to those mentioned initially excluding the first three (i.e. excluding Ahmad, al-Bukhaaree, and Muslim). "The Three" refers to them excluding those same three as well as the last one. "Agreed upon" refers to al-Bukhaaree and Muslim; and in cases where the two of them collected a hadeeth, I might not mention along with them anyone else. Anything besides those is mentioned by name. I have titled this book Buloogh al-Maraam min Adillatil-Ahkaam (Reaching One's Objective in Knowing the Evidences of Islaam's Directives); and I beseech Allaah to not cause the knowledge He has granted us lead to any bad outcome for us, and I further beseech Allaah - the Most Exalted who is perfect in every way - to guide us to act in accordance with all that pleases Him.
