I would suggest meeting with Ms. Tune from Chiang Mai Rock Climbing Association (CMRCA) as soon in the year as possible to review itineraries and plan CWW dates. Once you have dates and itineraries set, you must confirm with Khun Kung who handles CWW across both campuses!
Reflections from 2018/2019:
December (Grade 4 and 5): The planning for this trip felt very rushed! If you intend to follow a similar timeline, be sure to meet with Ms. Tune as soon as possible. A curriculum note: This year, we were in the process of updating our POI and transitioning some units to align more with Next Generation. This meant that G4 and G5 did the same unit of inquiry, " Humans observe and impact the changing physical characteristics of Earth." Grade 4 visited Lam Pang Cave Art and a perma-culture farm. Grade 5 went kayaking and hiking at the Mae Ngat Reservoir. Both trips were very successful, but be sure to revisit the academic connection for G5 and make sure that there is enough time for the hike. One idea would be to keep the trips the same but to align with the Grade 5 central idea: Earth is made of interacting systems that make life possible.
May (4 and 5: The timing of this trip was terrible! Smokey season killed it and it needed to be rescheduled. Try to organize all trips in semester 1.
Grade 6: I love this trip! It is very hot, but I think it is worth it a "right of passage" for G6.
