3 Monkeys: See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil
To work together with your group to put the puzzle together
Puzzle pieces: The jigsaw puzzle is like a giant mystery you have been asked to solve. Each piece of a jigsaw puzzle gives you a clue. Each clue is different and unique, some clues give you more information than others, but you'll need to figure out how the clues fit together to see the whole picture and solve the mystery.
Blindfold: The blindfold represents barriers/challenges that make us work harder to accomplish our goals (not insurmountable obstacles.)
Focus Area/Goal: Perseverance: Recognize that personal limitations are not barriers to successful participation in a group.
Debrief
Describe a challenging moment during that activity? How did you respond to that activity, and what motivated you to keep going?
Think about times when you doubted your ability or felt limited. How did you overcome those feelings and continue working towards your goals?
Were there times that your group’s approach was not working? How did you adapt your strategies to find a more successful path?
What did you learn about your ability to surpass limitations?
2. Focus Area/Goal:Creating a System for Communication
Debrief:
Did your communication system work effectively? Were there times when the messages could not be understood or were unclear?
Were there any challenges implementing your communication system? How did you address these? And what did you learn from overcoming those challenges?
Were all team members involved in creating the communication system? If so, was that effective? If not, would that have made your communication more clear?
Begin in groups of 3.
See No Evil is blindfolded and faces the mixed up pieces of the puzzle. See No Evil is the only one allowed to touch the puzzle.
Speak No Evil can see the puzzle, but can not talk. They must use non-verbal communication/gestures to communicate to Hear no Evil.
Hear No Evil can not look at the puzzle, but instead needs to interpret what Speak No Evil is trying to say, and tell See No Evil what to do to put the puzzle together.
Use thick, foam puzzles from the dollar store to make it easier.
Have multiple people with the ability to speak and tell see no evil what to do.
Have them draw something instead of put a puzzle together.
