Selection Procedure

Players from different sub divisions play in District karate tournament. Gold, Silver & Bronze medallists of District Karate Championship qualify for State Karate Championship; State Gold Medallists qualify for National Karate Championship; Furthermore, Gold, Silver & Bronze medallists of State select for East India Zonal Karate Championship & Zonal Gold medal winners select for Zonal National Karate Championship; The top 8 players of State Championship (Senior Events) also qualify for State Games (Bengal Olympic Association).

Gold Medallists of National Karate Championship get the chance to play in South Asian, Asian & Commonwealth Karate Championships.

After getting selected & playing several WKF Approved tournaments ( Premier League, Series A & Youth League), only the players who obtain good ranks in WKF ranking gets selected for World Karate Championship. Moreover, the players who ranked good in WKF ranking (among South Asia Region & Asia Continent Players) gets the chance to play South Asian Games & Asian Games. Top players in WKF ranking also gets the chance to play in World Games.

A player can also play in School Games & University Games. These are organised by School Games Federation of India & Association of Indian Universities respectively. Further the top players of these games get the chance to play in Khelo India School Games & Khelo India University Games organised by Sports Association of India. The top selected players of School Games & University Games in National Level qualify for International School Games & University Games.

School Games in Karate is organised in different levels, Sub Division, District, State & National. University Games is organised in College, Inter College & All India University Games.
