Governing Body for Karate in Purba Bardhaman District
BARDHAMAN KARATE-DO ASSOCIATION also known as BKA is an affiliated member of KARATE-DO ASSOCIATION OF BENGAL. It was formed by Shihan Debasis Kumar Mondal & Mr. Kamal Chandra Ghosh in 2010 for the betterment of Bardhaman District Karate. There was only one motto, promotion of Karate & betterment of Karatekas as much as possible.
The main purpose to form BKA is to unite the various karate styles, centres, clubs, institutes of Purba Bardhaman District under one umbrella & to create the platform & opportunity for the karatekas to showcase the talent in the field of Sport Karate.
At first it was known as Karate-Do Association of Bardhaman District (KABD). Later the name changed to Bardhaman Karate-Do Association to reflect the size & scope of the organisation.
As Bardhaman District was bifurcated into 2 Districts, Purba Bardhaman & Paschim Bardhaman in 2017, Bardhaman Karate-Do Association became the one & only authentic & recognised Karate Association of Purba Bardhaman District.
Bardhaman Karate-Do Association is the one & only authentic karate association of the District Purba Bardhaman, the Governing Body of Purba Bardhaman Karate.
BKA has been organised District Karate Competitions every year since 2010. Day by Day the players of Purba Bardhaman District is doing excellent results in both Kata & Kumite. BKA is presently in 4 Sub-Divisions (Bardhaman Sadar North, Bardhaman Sadar South, Kalna & Katwa) of Purba Bardhaman District and consists of 3 affiliated Styles (Shito-Ryu, Goju Ryu & Shotokan). It is a Non-profit Organisation which has always done for the players. BKA has done several rallies for the awareness of Karate in Purba Bardhaman, Free Self Defense classes, Teaching in Government schools under the banner of West Bengal Government, Self-Defence Workshops, Karate Training Camps, several social works. At present BKA has 1 AKF (Asian Karate Federation) Continental Judge, 6 National Judges & 14 Officials. Players of Purba Bardhaman District have made Purba Bardhaman District proud as they have participated & won medals in State, Zonal & National Karate Championships.

To promote the sport of Karate in Purba Bardhaman District, so that it is practiced in a massive way, organising and unifying all the athletes, officials and instructors of the district through the the affiliation with the one & only official & authentic karate association of Purba Bardhaman District i.e. Bardhaman Karate-Do Association (BKA); as well as supporting and promoting their teaching through general sports programs, seeking methodological unity in the activities of all its affiliates, leading to obtaining high-performance competitors at the district, state, zonal, national & international level, following for this purpose the rules that establish its Statute, its Regulations and the technical - sporting regulations, in accordance with the Regulations of the World Karate Federation (WKF).

Consolidate ourselves as a sports organisation of excellence with social commitment, forging Purba Bardhaman Karatekas with principles and values through the practice of Karate-Do, its actions at the district, state, zonal, national & international level will be carried out in accordance with the execution and evaluation framework within the Program of Physical Culture and Sport.
Parents and Karatekas (practitioners of karate) aspiring to excel in the field of KARATE as ‘SPORT’ need to wisely choose a nearby karate dojo (training centre) that is approved by the body connected to the WKF (India= KIO, West Bengal= KAB & Purba Bardhaman= BKA). Of course, the quality and technical ability of the karate coach is utmost importance for the growth of the karateka, besides having the approval of the dojo.
