Learning Targets:
Today I will research and collaborate with my group, so that I can learn about our selected puppetry tradition. I'll know I'm successful when I find reliable source material, contribute to the group notes, and feel prepared to begin designing our puppets and performance.
Need to Knows?
As a group, write questions about PUPPET CREATION & PERFORMANCE. Feel free to use questions from last class.
What do you need to know?
What does your group need to learn?
Be sure there are at least TWO QUESTIONS per group member; these questions will guide your research.
Research - Recommended Sources
Research - Evaluating Sources Online
Begin your research using the two resources listed below. These are two FANTASTIC sources of information!
Before you begin researching online, let's talk about the Lateral Reading approach (called the SIFT strategy) for quickly evaluating sources. Use the SIFT document (you will receive a paper copy) to guide your online research.
How do I cite sources?
Google Citations
Create citations through Google. Please note, you will need to check for correctness, but the embedded citation tool is a great place to start.
Click “Tools” → select “citations” → select your citation style → select your source type → begin creating your citations by filling in the fields.
Purdue OWL
Purdue OWL is a fantastic quick reference. The guidelines are clear and always include examples to mimic. To get started, click HERE.
Creative Commons
In addition to giving credit to the creator of ideas, images, music, etc., it is important to make sure you have permission to use the materials. Begin at Creative Commons for searchable images, media, and music that are available for public use! Make sure you give attribution for anything that you use. http://search.creativecommons.org/.
