As an active life-time member of the Social Science and Humanities Research Association (SSHRA) under Eurasia Research, Dr. Melcah P. Monsura was invited to be part of the Technical Committee of the 9th International Conference on Sociality and Humanities (ICOSH 2020). SSHRA is an international community of researchers, practitioners, students, and educationists for the development and spread of ideas in the fields of social science and humanities. To promote the association’s objectives, ICOSH is an annual event where its stakeholders can share new knowledge and ideas through their research presentations and publications of their research outputs.
Dr. Monsura has been part of this event since 2019. Her duties as a member of the Technical Committee includes reviewing of 2-4 submissions (research papers) and selecting research articles for publication. In return, the association extends certain privileges and opportunities to her such as discounts in the registration fees, if and when she wants to attend a conference, and the automatic acceptance of her paper for presentation and publication. This undertaking has paved the way for the faculty like Dr. Monsura and the Polytechnic University of the Philippines to widen the linkage of the University, as well as that of the Master of Science in Economics, in the field of international research.
Dr. Ricardo L. Dizon is part of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Applied Business Research (JABR), an international refereed journal indexed in Scopus. Dr. Dizon handles the review of business and economics researches that are submitted for possible publication in the journal. JABR welcomes articles in all areas of applied business and economics research. Both theoretical and applied business and economics manuscripts are considered for publication; however, theoretical manuscripts must provide a clear link to important and interesting business and economics applications. Using a wide range of research methods including statistical analysis, analytical work, case studies, field research, and historical analysis, these research articles examine significant applied business and economics research questions from a broad range of perspectives. The intention of JABR is to publish papers that significantly contribute to these fields.
Dr. Ricardo L. Dizon is part of SACNAS which is an inclusive organization dedicated to fostering the success of Chicanos/ Hispanics and Native Americans, from college students to professionals, in attaining advanced degrees, careers, and position leadership in STEM.
Dr. Melly L. Paraiso presented her paper entitled: Is the ASEAN Ready for Economic Integration? The Evidence from Panel Data Regression, and Dr. Ricardo L. Dizon presented his paper “Does The Liner Connectivity Index and Cost of Doing Trade Affects Exports and Imports Trade in ASEAN Economic Community? The Evidence from Panel Data Regressions" during the 41st Federation of Asian Economist Association held at the Alana Hotel and Convention Center, Yogyakarta, Central Java, Indonesia last November 23-25, 2016.
Dr. Ricardo L. Dizon presented his paper entitled: Economic Growth, Port Efficiency and Tariff Cost as a Determinants of Philippine Total Domestic and Foreign Cargo Throughout: An Analysis in 2016 Asian Association for Public Administration (AAPA) Annual Conference: Public Administration and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): New Agendas and Major Challenges last February 19-20, 2016 at Burapha University, Chonburi Province, Thailand.
Dr. Ricardo L. Dizon and Dr. Melcah P. Monsura presented their paper entitled: Do Productivity Incentive and Salary Increase Really Equate to Increase Work Performance of the Employee? A Policy Evaluation of the Rating System of Department of Budget and Management of the Philippines during the 4th Asia International Conference 2018 (AIC 2018) in Langkawi, Malaysia last December 6-11, 2018.
Dr. Ricardo L. Dizon presented his paper entitled: The Divisia Decomposition Analysis of the Effects of Sectoral Labour Productivity on Economic growth of Selected ASEAN Economies, and Dr. Melcah Monsura presented her paper entitled: Socioeconomic Characteristics of Households, Government Programs on Human Capital, and Natural Shocks as Determinants of Philippine Household Income Mobility during the 44th Federation of Asian Economist Association Conference held at Singapore last November 29-30, 2019.
Dr. Ricardo L. Dizon presented his paper entitled: The Variation in Philippine National Wage during the 2019-XIIIth International Conference on Business, Economics, Law, Language & Psychology held at Bangkok Thailand last February 27, 2019. During the same conference, Dr. Dizon and Mr. Arjay Artes (MAE Alumni) was awarded as Best Paper Presenter.
Dr. Aileen L. Camba presented her paper entitled: An Engle-Granger and Johansen Cointegration Approach in Testing the Validity of Fisher Hypothesis in the Philippines during the International Research Conference on Higher Education (IRCHE) 2021 through Zoom platform.
The faculty of Master of Science in Economics attended international conferences, trainings, and continuing professional. For the period 2017-2022, a total of 29 international trainings and seminars have attended by the faculty which are composed of 79 percent (23) Seminars, 14 percent trainings (4), and 7 percent (2) (Continuing Professional).
To strengthen further the international linkages of Graduate School and Master of Science in Economics, the Graduate School enter an agreement with Van Lang University through forging Memorandum of Understanding. The MOU between PUP Graduate School (PUPGS) and Van Lang University aims to have cooperation in an organization of joint symposia, workshops, and conferences. Aside from this, the agreement also provides an avenue for exchange scholars, professors, lecturers, and researchers, organization of faculty trainings and development program, student mobility. The agreement also aims to strengthen the exchange of educational materials, research/scientific publications/reports, and instructional materials, sharing of expertise in research and publication, sharing of extension, collaboration in research projects, sharing of technical experts, and opportunities for transnational education program.
As part of the MOU between Van Lang University and PUP Graduate School, the PUP Graduate School and Van Lang University co-organized international conference entitled: International Conference on Humanities, Education, Science, Management, Engineering, and Technology 2021 last November 25-27, 2021 through zoom. Dr. Ricardo L. Dizon, chair of M.S. Economics is Committee Co-Chair of Technical Session and Dr. Melcah Monsura, Dr. Aileen L. Camba, and Dr. Gregoria M. Guce as member.
