READABILITY TABLE

Aside from the readability computations online, the team manually computed the readability index of the proposed texts. FRY readability formula, SMOG index, and Gunning Fog Index were utilized to check for accuracy. Supporting the quantitative assessment, a qualitative assessment of each text using Diaz Rivera's (1997) and Glazer's (1986) Features of Good Poetry test was applied for the song and poem selection while Glazer's (1986) Good Stories for Literacy Instruction test was employed for the qualitative assessment of the stories included in the list of selected texts in the package (Santos, 1999).

Additional Notes

Some texts or materials used may have higher readability index. The teacher as the facilitator may scaffold the children by introducing and presenting the texts/materials accordingly. As the learning facilitator, the teacher may use either or both Qualitative Readability or/and Quantitative Readability Tests for reference.

The text "Anak ng Pasig" was not subjected to a quantitative readability test as the preferred readability formulas are based on the English language; the formulas may not sufficiently account for linguistic features of the Filipino language, potentially rendering the results invalid.
