THE PUKEKOHE EAST CHURCH PRESERVATION SOCIETY was formed in 1994 following cessation of regular services and has around 50 members. Members are mostly locals and past residents who want to keep in touch and help protect this building that has played an important part in their lives.
The purpose of the Society is:
(a) To preserve, support and protect the land, building and graveyard, known as the Pukekohe East Church, in conjunction with other organisations and bodies with similar aims or purposes and following the best professional advice available at the time.
(b) To repair, renovate and restore the church and its grounds for future generations in the district and New Zealand.
(c) To promote the widest possible awareness, through education and publicity, of the historical significance of the church and the part it has played in local and the nation's history since 1863.
(d) To maintain and grow membership of and support for the society.
The Society has been integral to the conservation of this church and churchyard. Over the last 20 years, they have developed a robust conservation and restoration plan.
The Society organises events and open days throughout the year.
