Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY
Emily Laber-Warren has headed the health and science reporting program at the Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY since 2011. A longtime science journalist, she has been a top editor at Scientific American Mind, Women’s Health, and Popular Science, and her articles have appeared in The New York Times, Newsweek, Psychology Today, Scientific American, Sapiens, and other publications. She is the author of a series of Science Journalism Master Classes published by The Open Notebook, with funding from The Kavli Foundation. These free, email-based mini-courses aim to help novice, developing and established science journalists sharpen a range of skills, from idea generation to working with editors.

Javeria is an experienced executive with a demonstrated history of working in the healthcare communications industry for 20+ years. Skilled in supporting pharmaceutical clients to achieve their brand objectives, she has broad experience managing promotional medical education and medical communication teams working in Publications, Medical Affairs, and Commercial strategy. Javeria joined Real Chemistry as President, Education at 21GRAMS, their promotional medical education agency in July 2023 with a long tenure of experience at various promotional and medical communications agencies. Javeria has therapeutic experience in many different disease areas, specifically concentrated in oncology and rare diseases. With everything from large pharma clients to biotech companies, she has led the development of a multitude of healthcare communication outputs in a variety of product lifecycles through launch, both globally, the Emerging Markets and US focused. She has expertise in development of audience-specific content, obtaining and providing strategic insights relevant to internal and external market/audience development, strategic and tactical planning, development strategic promotional and medical plans. At 21GRAMS, Javeria oversees the agency's promotional and medical communications activities as well as the company’s Speaker Bureau, Patient/Community Ambassador and Engagement, and Meetings departments. Her strengths include the deep understanding of client processes and guidelines to ensure a seamless partnership between the 21GRAMS and client teams; all while focusing on building relationships with clients, therapeutic experts, key stakeholders and internal teams alike. Javeria holds a BSc in Biology from Siena College in Loudonville, NY. During her graduate study she conducted clinical research at the Department of Integrative Medicine at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York and completed her Masters in International Public Health from New York University.

Digital Marketing Associate, Teens PACT
Community Healthcare Network
Coming from a public health and digital filmmaking background, Oskar served as a sexuality educator with Community Healthcare Network for three years. In Oskar’s current role as the digital marketing associate for Community Healthcare Network’s Teens PACT program, they leverage the synergy of their unique background in media and public health. Regardless of position, they are dedicated to contributing to healthy societal perceptions of sex and sexuality among young people in the New York City area. A public health worker by choice and an organizer out of necessity, the work they do here—whether it be program development or advocacy—is personal, grassroots, and impactful.

Director of Communications
CUNY Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy
Sumana Chandra serves as the Director of Communications and College Relations for the CUNY Graduate School of Public Health & Health Policy. Prior to joining CUNY SPH, she worked for the Human Rights Project at the Urban Justice Center where her work focused on right to work issues. She previously worked for the research and information center Media Matters for America, working to correct misinformation in the media. Chandra’s experience extends to the public relations sphere, having worked with a PR firm that specialized in providing services to financial clients. Passionate about social justice and human rights issues, she currently serves as a board member for the International Human Rights Art Movement, a platform dedicated to giving a voice to artists around the world who address human rights issues through their work. She is also a board member of Health Education on Wheels, a non-profit organization dedicated to bridging healthcare gaps by bringing diabetes prevention education to underserved communities. Chandra is a CUNY SPH alumna, having completed her MPH in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. She also holds a BA in Communication Studies from the University of Michigan.
