The Pub Runners musical styling has been influenced by many artists but none more than two groups - The Dubliners and The Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem. The Clancy's popularized Irish music in America in the sixties with their appearances on the Ed Sullivan show and at concerts across the United States. It was a performance by the Clancy's at the University of Michigan that sparked a love for Irish music in a young Jerry Belanger.
While on their tour of Ireland in 2024, The Pub Runners had the honor of being received at a mayoral reception in Carrick-on-Suir, the home town of the Clancy's.
At the reception, The Pub Runners and their tour group along with city officials and local citizens sang one of the Clancy's most popular songs "Wild Mountain Thyme".
The band was joined by Kevin Powers, nephew of one of the Clancy Brothers, in singing another of the Clancy's songs, "Brennan on the Moor"
