Fall 2018 we decided to get serious about having vegetables year-round because we wanted fresh produce. So, we cleared a 2500 sq ft area behind our home in Hoʻolehua. We did a cover crop, planted all kines: taro, beans, cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuces, cabbages, eggplant in the Spring of 2019. Then Covid-19 came to Molokai, and we were blessed to have produce for our ʻohana and neighbors/friends when we had limited access. Then in the Fall of 2019 a farmer friend told us we should sell our lettuces and Asian greens commercially.
Pualei Farm was formed.
All happy prior to harvesting the Bok Chois.
The microgreen and storage room. We had to find another way to out beat the insects, while growing sustainably.
Our summer product, sweet and ono
Having our daughter involved in farm business is priceless!
