Pentatonix has collaborated with various artists including Kelly Clarkson, Miley Cyrus, Lindsey Stirling, Dolly Parton, Stevie Wonder, Meghan Trainor, Jennifer Hudson, and Smokey Robinson to produce covers or original songs. Some of these songs include a cover of "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons with violinist Lindsey Sterling, original Christmas song "Kid on Christmas" with Meghan Trainor, and a cover of "Jolene" with Dolly Parton.

Kirstin Maldonado

Born in  Texas in 1992, she was 5 years old when she first wished to become a singer. She was in voice lessons and theater productions growing up, and met Mitch Grassi through her local theater group. In high school, she and Mitch met Scott Hoying, who would be the third founding member of Pentatonix

Scott Hoying

Born in Texas in 1991, he was active in local theater productions where he met Mitch Grassi, and they would form the musical duo "Superfruit". He also met Kirstin Maldonado in high school, and the trio would later form Pentatonix.

Matt Sallee

Born in Maryland in 1994, he started singing in his church's choir at age 4. He attended Berkeley College of Music before being invited to join Pentatonix after Avi Kaplan left. He sings primarily bass and baritone, but also some tenor and does some beatboxing.

Kevin Olusola

Born in California in 1988,  he  is the  creator of  "celloboxing", or  beatboxing and playing cello at the same time. Despite musical talent and involvement in various orchestras and bands, he attended Yale to pursue a medical degree.  He continued to work on "celloboxing", and was contacted by Scott Hoying after one of his YouTube videos went viral. Scott convinced him to join their group for "The Sing Off".

Mitch Grassi

Born in Texas in 1992, he met both Scott Hoying and Kirstin Maldonado when he was young doing musical theater productions. He briefly dated Scott Hoying in high school, and they formed the musical duo "Superfruit" together. Along with Scott and Kirstin, they were in choir throughout high school and later formed the beginnings of Pentatonix.

Avi Kaplan (former member)

Born in California in 1989, he enjoyed music from a young age and took inspiration from  artists such as Simon and Garfunkel. He attended Mt. San Antonio College and studied opera and choral studies. He joined various a capella groups  before being contacted by Scott Hoying looking for a vocal bass to audition for "The Sing Off". The group met for the first time the day before auditions, and later won the season. In May 2017, he announced he would be leaving Pentatonix because he could not keep up with the demanding tour schedules, and has since focused on a solo career producing folk songs.
