This project aims to design an autonomous drone battery exchanger by modifying an existing drone rather than purchasing a specialized one. The modifications include adding a chassis for holding a specific battery or a system designed by the team, an interface port for easier landing, and a mechanism for easily attaching and detaching batteries securely during flight. The original drone battery will serve as a backup to keep the drone powered during battery changes.
Our team has several ideas for achieving this, but only through detailed exploration of our designs will the necessary improvements become clear. One key challenge is creating an easy release mechanism for the battery holder, which could involve mechanical means or a mechanism on the battery exchanger to remove the battery.
