Plant Traits Development Laboratory

The Plant Traits Development Laboratory (PTDL) focuses its research beyond the traditional concept of food crop breeding, concentrating on the discovery and utilization of valuable traits in various crops, including those in the rice and composite families. Our lab's core objective is to identify traits that can respond to climate change, isolate them, and develop them into a usable form. To achieve this, we collaborate with various fields such as bioinformatics, genomics, agronomy, biochemistry, and genetic engineering. We are dedicated to securing high-value traits and providing the trait information that forms the basis for gene editing and transformation technologies. Our aim is to build a future-oriented breeding platform that goes beyond conventional cultivar development.

PTDL은 기존의 식량작물 육종 개념을 넘어, 벼과·국화과를 포함한 다양한 작물에서 유용한 형질을 발굴하고 이를 활용하는 데 중점을 두고 연구합니다. 우리 연구실의 핵심 목표는 기후변화에 대응할 수 있는 형질을 발견하고, 이를 분리하여 활용 가능한 형태로 개발하는 것입니다. 이를 위해 생물정보학, 유전체학, 재배학, 생화학, 유전공학 등 다양한 분야와 협력하며, 고부가가치 형질 확보와 유전자 편집 및 전환 기술의 기반이 되는 형질 정보 제공에 주력하고 있습니다. 우리는 기존 품종 개발을 넘어, 미래형 육종 플랫폼의 구축을 지향합니다.
