Option 1: A therapy space in Hamilton dedicated to psychedelic healing
Option 2: I can travel to your own place or an Airbnb anywhere within 1 hour of drive from Hamilton, including London, Burlington, Mississauga, Oakville, Toronto, Stoney Creek, Kitchener-Waterloo, and Niagara. People from more than 1.5 hours away are invited to come to Hamilton.
The only legal pathway to "psychedelic-assisted therapy" in Canada is through Section 56 exemption and clinical trials. The process can be cumbersome and cost high. A legal dose of MDMA for example can be a couple thousand dollars. If you are only interested in the legal path, please take a look at the amazing work TheraPsil has been doing.
At my clinic, I only provide psychedelic harm reduction, which is under the framework that clients bring in the substances they plan to use and I can legally be there to make sure of safety and provide support.
I'm one of the few places in Ontario (or even Canada) where you can receive psychedelic harm reduction service (aka trip sitting) from a licensed therapist. Due to being one of the earliest therapists in Ontario to practice this above ground, I had the privilege to be invited to CRPO's psychedelic-assisted therapy working group in 2023-2024. That being said, I acknowledge that there are many experienced practitioners and pioneers in the underground world, and I'm deeply grateful for their work.
I currently only provide harm reduction services with Psilocybin, MDMA, and Ketamine. For people who are interested in Ayahuasca
and 5-MeO harm reduction, I can refer you to other practitioners.
I do not provide or sell substances. My clients bring their own medicine (all lab-tested). I offer screening (1 hr), preparation (2 hr), tripsitting (6 hr), and integration (2 hr).
The best practice is to have two practitioners (male-female dyad) to support one (or two) clients for the best interpersonal projection and offering of therapeutic touch. I can bring a female, trained psychedelic practitioner with me (may or may not be a licensed therapist, depending on your preference). You can check out her profile in "Associates".
Never had to use it in my whole career, but I have a Standard First Aid & CPR/AED level C certificate.
A typical trip protocol includes 11 hours of service:
screening (1 hr) - more than 4 weeks before trip
preparation (2 one-hour sessions) - 4 weeks and 2 weeks before trip
Medicine session / Journey (6 hr in total)
2 hr therapy
4 hr harm reduction
Integration (1 hr) - 24-48 hour after trip
Integration (1 hr) - 2 weeks after trip
I bring my 5 years of couples therapy experience into my psychedelic work. MDMA and Ketamine have shown great potential for couples therapy. You can see some articles on this in the Resources tab.
Each client must have their own individual journey to determine dosage and safety, before having joint sessions on the medicine.
I also conduct above-ground Ketamine-Assisted Therapy in collaboration with Nurse Practitioners through Empire Psychotherapy in Stoney Creek. Please see the website for details: https://www.empirepsych.ca/counselling/ketamine-therapy/
