Puglia Summer Trimester 2023
Singularities, Asymptotics and Limiting Models
Università degli Studi di Bari
Organisers: Biagio Cassano, Fabio Deelan Cunden, Matteo Gallone, Marilena Ligabò, Alessandro Michelangeli, and Domenico Pomarico
This trimester programme will foster discussions, updates, retrospects, and exchanges on recent advances in a spectrum of mathematical problems, directly stemming or inspired from a variety of physical domains, which involve singular modelling, asymptotic and emergent phenomena, singular interactions, non-trivial limit effects. Natural backgrounds are quantum physics, cold atom physics, soft matter physics, with methods and tools, suitably adapted to such singular settings, spanning across operator and spectral theory, functional analysis, probability, differential geometry, partial differential equations, and numerical analysis. The programme is structured around a series of main meetings, including a general conference and a summer school, and the local presence and activity of visiting scientists. In parallel to the research core, the programme will also foster an action of dissemination and popularisation of mathematics for schools and general audience, related to the proposed scientific themes.
