Mounting UMD Video files
Playing UMD movie ISO files stored on your card
As you may or may not know, a PSP running CFW can play UMD movies of any region - all you need is the dumped ISO file. You simply place the ISO in the correct location on your memory stick and then 'mount' the ISO to play it. To dump the ISO, however, if the UMD is region locked, you must have a PSP of a matching region to the region of the UMD you want to 'dump' (you can change your PSP's region using the UMD Region Changer app). If, however, you have access to an already dumped UMD movie ISO, this can be played on a CFW PSP of any region.
How to play dumped UMD video ISO files on you PSP:
- To play dumped UMD movie ISO files on your PSP, first you need to transfer the UMD movie ISO to the ISO/VIDEO folder on your memory stick.
- While on the XMB (your PSP home screen/menu) bring up the VSH menu by pressing the 'select' button.
- Find the ISO VIDEO MOUNT option and change it from 'NONE' to the dumped UMD movie ISO you're wanting to watch. - Exit the menu (can just press 'select' again) and the PSP will reboot.
- Go and find/launch your movie under the video heading of the XMB (alternatively, the PSP might launch straight into the UMD movie by itself) - Enjoy!
PS... To unmount the UMD movie you just need to do the reverse:
- On the XMB press 'select' to bring up the VSH menu.
- Find the ISO VIDEO MOUNT option and change it to 'NONE' and then exit the menu (can just press 'select' again). Done! You can also reset your PSP and the 'mounting' will be removed.
Where to download UMD video files...
No direct links will be shared here, however Myrient has two separate repositories of UMD ISO files - one for UMD Videos (movies and tv shows), and the other for UMD Music (concerts, music videos clip collections, etc).
There's also NextGenRoms, which requires a membership to login/access, but membership is free.
