Adding Games to your PSP
Store and play games from your memory card
(If you haven't hacked your unit yet, visit our guide here: PSP Hacking / Modding Guide)
A few basics:
- PSP games (.iso files) go in the ISO folder of your memory card.
The ISO folder is located in the root directory (the first, or 'top-most' directory of your memory card).
If you download an ISO file it will most likely be a compressed or zipped format (.zip, .7z, or .rar) - you'll need a program such as UnRar to extract the .zip, .7z, or .rar file and access the .iso file.
Once extracted, just copy or move the .iso file into the ISO folder, which will look like this:
root:/ISO/(GameName).iso
*GameName will, of course, be the title of the game or the game's ID and will also not be in brackets.
- PS1 games must be in EBOOT format and these belong to the GAME folder of your memory card.
The GAME folder is located inside the PSP folder.
If you download an EBOOT it will most likely be a compressed or zipped format (.zip, .7z, or .rar) - you'll need a program such as UnRar to extract the .zip, .7z, or .rar file and access the EBOOT.
Once extracted, just copy or move the EBOOT folder into the GAME folder, which will look like this:
root:/PSP/GAME/(GameName)/eboot.pbp
*GameName will, of course, be the title of the game or the game's ID and will also not be in brackets.
Each PS1 eboot will be in its own folder within the GAME folder, eg:
/GAME/Wipeout/eboot.pbp
/GAME/DestructionDerby/eboot.pbp
/GAME/KulaWorld/eboot.pbp
...etc. NOTE - if there is a keys.bin file in the same folder as the eboot.pbp do NOT delete this file.
PSP games (.iso files) and PS1 games (already converted to EBOOT format) can easily be found on RetroGameTalk or Myrient.
Oh! And if you're looking to add some PSP Homebrew games/apps, these belong in the PSP/GAME folder too.
Happy gaming!
