Our Roadeo Trailer was recovered!
Unfortunately most of it's contents were not within. We found our cones on Facebook Marketplace and reached out to the seller. We also reached out to the police officer handling our case. He said it was recovered on April 17th and impounded. They did not notify us via the active police report, opting to send a registered letter to a Tacoma address (likely a previous board member who is no longer affiliated with our group)
The trailer was sitting in impound for 22 days (the requirement to send to auction.) The trailer and Items were sent to auction and legally purchased so PSDTA no longer holds any claims to the trailer or equipment. Ginger messaged the seller and explained to them what happened and asked to buy the trailer & cones back. He agreed to give us the cones and stop sign, and thought for a bit about the trailer, then ultimately decided to sell it back to us for $1500, which is what he has into it.
The door has some damage from where it was broken open. The purchaser put new tires and a new hitch jack on it. Schetky has offered to paint the trailer for us.
•Recovered: Trailer, Cones, Stop Sign, & some fire hose. We also got most of the bases to the stanchions back.
•Missing: all totes/bins, all tape measures, all squares, clipboards, premeasured mats for turn event, the disks for mirror station, missing some parts to stanchions arms and bases, tennis balls, concession stands, clip rack, raffle/fundraising items bags, weights, event signage, cash box, so many other small things we have collected over the years.
An anonymous donor graciously offered to put up $2000 for replacement costs. Which will be $1757.25 for the trailer cost, plus tax, title, & license.
We are still accepting donations to replace missing equipment. See the list below.
Along with this fabulous news about the trailer recovery...even to further the good news from our friends throughout the state and in our Transportation community came together to support us at WAPT! We took our left over Roadeo Pins and sold them for $5 each with profits supporting the stolen equipment. Michael the WAPT President Elect, shared our story with the entire conference, and Robert the WAPT State Roadeo/OSPI Liaison, really spearheaded the collection efforts! And then even after we were sold out of pins, people continued to give use cash donations! We received $50 from a vendor with Bus Right, and a fellow driver at Lake Steven, Margi donated the $50 visa card she won, and we received a crisp $100 bill from a generous unknown donor!
All in we were fortunate enough to collect $734 from our friends at WAPT!
Sending a HUGE THANK YOU to Michael and Robert and our WAPT community, we are humbled and blessed to call you colleagues and friends!
Plus the $350 raised at our Regional Roadeo from the 50/50 we have just over $1000 to replace our stolen equipment!
If you have Roadeo equipment or monetary funds to donate, or skills or material to create Roadeo equipment we continue to gratefully accept!
A List Of Items Needed:

Looking for a trailer that is going to surplus, does your district have one?
Please reach out at PSDTA121@gmail.com if you can donate
or if you have information on our stolen trailer or equipment.
As most of you know our Roadeo Trailer was stolen in April (details below.)
We are looking to rebuild our supplies to continue hosting Regional Road-e-o’s in ESD 121. We need your help!
Below is our wish list to replace the stolen equipment and especially a trailer to store our equipment for our Regional Road-e-o. Please take a look at the list. If you have any items you or your district can donate, we’d love to receive! If you have a trailer headed to surplus, we’d love the opportunity to purchase at a reasonable cost.
The mats for right turn are big rubber food service mats, if your kitchen is getting new mats, we’d love to repurpose the old mats. We need a ton of cones, stanchions, candlestick, tennis balls, pop-up canopies, stop watches, square measuring tools, 100’ & 25’ measuring tapes, duct tape, color tapes, wood, spray paints, wheel chair, car seat, cash boxes, lanyards…The list goes on. We are rebuilding from scratch. Everything we had was in the trailer.
Puget Sound Driver Trainer Association 121 is a not-for-profit organization, Tax ID 91-1428521. We can provide a donation receipt or procurement form upon request.
