About PSCES
A series of conferences initiated at IIT Kharagpur gained significant traction within the materials science community. Recognizing the overwhelming response and the impact of such a conference on area of strongly correlated systems, with the inputs of the advisory committee, it was decided to elevate it to an annual event, naming it "Physics of Strongly Correlated Electron Systems" or PSCES for brevity. The chosen name underscores the conference's focus and target audience. PSCES aims to foster collaboration among research groups in India specializing in strongly correlated electron systems. Establishing an annual gathering was envisioned to facilitate the exchange of high-quality scientific ideas and findings. Moreover, the conference offers a valuable opportunity for young scholars and researchers to expand their knowledge and cultivate future partnerships. The conference aims to bring together experimentalists and theorists pursuing active research in the areas of strongly correlated electron systems, including quantum magnetism, unconventional superconductivity, correlated topological matter, multiferroics, spintronics, etc.
5th Edition of PSCES
The upcoming PSCES 2025 @ IIT(BHU), Varanasi, marks the fifth edition in a series of specialized gatherings aimed at fostering interaction and future collaborations among Indian research teams studying strongly correlated electron systems. Building on the success of previous editions at IIT Delhi, IIT Mandi, IISER Pune, and IISER Bhopal, this fifth installment continues the tradition of promoting productive exchanges between theorists and experimentalists in this field. The event will maintain its focused approach, ensuring ample opportunities for in-depth discussions and collaboration.
Adding to the significance of this event is its location in Varanasi, the city of Mahadev. Known as one of the oldest living cities in the world, Varanasi is not only a spiritual and cultural hub but also a center of learning and knowledge. Hosting PSCES 2025 in Varanasi provides a unique blend of historical richness and academic excellence, creating an inspiring environment for researchers to engage and innovate. The city's vibrant atmosphere and deep-rooted traditions offer a perfect backdrop for fostering meaningful interactions and future collaborations among the scientific community.
