The Plasma Science Society of India (PSSI) was established in 1978 with the vision of fostering excellence in plasma research, education, and application. PSSI represents a gathering of minds dedicated to unraveling the complexities of plasma phenomena and harnessing its transformative power. With a diverse membership drawn from academia, industry, and government institutions. It serves as a vibrant hub for interdisciplinary exchange and synergistic partnerships.
Moreover, PSSI is committed to nurturing the next generation of plasma scientists and engineers. Through various programs, educational outreach initiatives, national symposiums, and colloquium the society cultivates a vibrant ecosystem in the field of plasma science and technology. By empowering young minds with the tools and inspiration to pursue careers in plasma science, PSSI ensures a legacy of innovation that will endure for generations to come.
The objective of the society are to promote and popularise plasma science in India:
To encourage the study of all aspects of Plasma Science & Technology.
To promote active ineraction among all persons, bodies, educational and research institutions (private and/or state owned) and industries in the field of Plasma Science & Technology.
To issue such publications (e.g. newsletters, reports, bulletins. journals incorporating research and teaching ideas, e-newsletter etc.) from time to time , as may be decided upon by the Executive Council of the society.
To popularise the plasma science among the educational and research institutions and the general public of India by
Arranging lectures/conferences/workshops on various aspects of plasma science & technology
Striving to include plasma scince courses in colleges and universities-curricula
Cooperating in the conduting of symposium , conferences, pannel discussions, workshops, etc.
Supporting research students in the form of research fellowships and travel support to attend plasma conferences in India.
To encourage coordinated research programmes among Indian Plasma Scinentists and exchange of research personnel between research institutions and Universities in India.

PSSI-Plasma Scholar Colloquium
The Plasma Scholars' Colloquium (PSC) was started in the year 2012 as per the suggestion of the PSSI-GBM which mooted that a special colloquium exclusively for students, research scholars and post-doctoral fellows working in the areas of plasma and fusion science & technology needed to be initated so that the students can interact with each other and also improve their presentation skills.
This year in 2024, PSSI-PSC will be held at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, Hauz Khas, New Delhi (https://home.iitd.ac.in)
This Colloquium will have a few invited talks by experts in the areas of plasma science & technology and then oral and poster presentations by the students.
PSSI will support travel for students wanting to attend this Colloquium.
Who can Apply......?
The colloquium is open ONLY to research scholars working in theoretical/ computational and/ or experimental plasma science and technology. The number of participants is limited to about 100.
The abstract template is available on the Abstract submission page of the PSC-2024 website. The last date for abstract submission is May 10, 2024. Only soft copy of abstracts/conference proceedings will be accepted. Conference proceedings should not be more than FIVE A4 sized pages. Abstracts/Conference Proceedings may be submitted online.
