Kindergarten students were introduced to the library this month. They visited the school library for the first time at PS 452 and learned about book care and how to check out books!
As part of our social-emotional learning, we focused on self and social awareness. We learned about the Mood Meter and we discussed how emotions vary from one another.

As part of our social-emotional learning, we started focusing on self and social awareness by exploring emotion families. We explored the physical and mental cues associated with varied emotions and applied this information to classify emotions into families.

As part of our social-emotional learning, we started focusing on self and social awareness by deepening our abilities to label and express emotions using the Mood Meter and RULER.
A tool was sent home to all second-grade families to support second-graders with using the Mood Meter at home!

Students in third grade started this year in Media Studies with an introduction to the Library and the Media Center. In the Library, we reviewed book care. In the Media Center, we got a brief introduction to some of the technology that we will be using this year. For Hispanic Heritage Month, we learned about Dr. Ellen Ochoa, a famous astronaut.

This year, fourth graders have Media Studies twice a week!

Our technology lessons focused on logging into the school computers, accessing TeachHub and Google Classroom. We also started Digital Citizenship lessons and discussed Private vs. Personal information. This month, we also celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month by reading the book Islandborn.
