In the beginning of October, Kindergarten students focused on social-emotional learning (SEL). We discussed our feelings using the Mood Meter, learned how to name different emotions, and practiced sorting different emotions. We then celebrated Digital Citizenship Week by discussing the importance of Media Balance. We wrapped up the month with a book study and talking about fiction books and nonfiction books.

First graders started the month of October with a focus on social-emotional learning. We practiced drawing and sorting our emotions. For Digital Citizenship Week, we discussed the importance of pausing and thinking about our actions online. We closed the month by talking about the feelings in stories.

In second grade, we started the month of October by concluded our social-emotional studies by creating self-portraits that reflected an emotion. For Digital Citizenship Week, we discussed what it means to be a good digital citizen. As the month came to a close, we talked about making connections in stories.

October in third grade started our transitions between the Media Center and the Library.
We did a few lessons on Digital Citizenship by discussing the importance of pausing for people when using devices and creating safe passwords. We then began to practice signing into and out of computers and getting connected to Teach Hub.
Fourth grade lessons in October focused on Digital Citizenship and technology.
Digital Citizenship: We discussed keeping online games fun and friendly, being a super digital citizen, copyright, and our digital footprint.
Technology: We continued working on navigating Teach Hub and Google Classroom. We started using Typing.com to practice our typing skills and ended the month by beginning coding using Google CS First.
