Dear P.S. 197 Families

Welcome back returning P.S. 197 families, and a great big welcome to our new P.S. 197 families! We hope the first days of school have been enjoyable. We are thrilled to be a part of such a diverse community, and we look forward to promoting inclusion, engagement and family empowerment.

The PTA plays many pivotal roles at P.S. 197, including: 

• COMMUNICATION: Monthly PTA meetings are a vital source of information about what’s going on in our school, as well as a forum for your questions, concerns, and ideas. 

• FUNDRAISING: The PTA fundraising efforts fill the school's budget gaps by providing funding for events and support for students, teachers, and social events. 

• ADVOCACY: Our voices are always stronger together. The PTA can help identify and advance concerns from families in classrooms and the school overall.

• COMMUNITY EVENTS: Sometimes one of the most important things we can do is just be in the community together. Events, such as our Game Night last year play an important role in connecting our school and community in celebration.

• VOLUNTEERING: Most importantly, the PTA can’t do many of these wonderful things without you and your support. We are always seeking volunteers to assist in making these events a success and a positive experience for the students. Sign up information will be sent via DoJo so please be sure to check for opportunities to join a committee or fundraiser at an event for the day, any level of support is greatly appreciated!
